Essentials
- Editor syntax highlight
- Code Styler - adds styling to code written in codeblocks
- Templater: Create template notes that can contain JavaScript and other bits to quickly start a certain type of note.
- Commander: Customize workspace and what goes on which toolbar
- Customizable Menu: Add commands you use regularly to menus (like right mouse menu)
- Dataview: Allows you to query and display data from your notes using a special query language. It helps organize and visualize your information by pulling metadata from your Markdown files, making it easier to manage large amounts of notes. More about Dataview.
- Tag Wrangler: Allows you to edit a tag in one note and update it across any notes with that tag, among other things
- Style Settings: Customize theme styles
- Omnisearch - alternative to native Quick Switcher, searches contents of notes as well as titles. I changed the hotkey so that CMD+O opens Omnisearch and made CMD+
Consider
- Buttons - enables one to create and insert buttons in notes. Buttons can run commands, link to notes, etc.
- Calendar: installs a calendar that can be shown in a sidebar. I haven't found much use for this one myself.
- Task related plugins:
- TaskNotes: A much-expanded task management plugin. With TaskNotes, each task is a note. So Metadata in that note includes the status (ie. "in progress", "complete"), due date, etc. Also includes a calendar that lists tasks by date.
- Kanban - Allows you to view and categorize tasks as a Kanban board. I use TaskNotes instead, which also contains a Kanban view of tasks.
- **Cardboard** - alternative to Kanban plugin - shows any tasks in a Kanban style board
- Paste Image Rename that will make it ask you what to name any image you paste into Obsidian
- Excalidraw: A drawing plugin. I don't use it but others seem to like it.
- Tracker: for tracking data over time - such as habit tracking. I haven't messed around with this.
- Remember Cursor Position: Puts cursor where it was the last time you opened any given note. This is a plugin that just runs in the background to do this function.
- Obsidian42 - Strange New Worlds: allows you to see connections between various links and notes - interesting but can clutter your view of notes sometimes
- Charts - enables one to create charts using metadata from notes
- Digital Garden - can allow you to publish your notes, or a subset of them, to the web.
- Projects (video)
